Friday evening at Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, the heart of Sufi spiritual life in Delhi, throngs of brightly dressed devotees, families of all walks, pilgrims, visitors and tourists, and Qawwali musicians filling the air with mesmerizing energizing tabla beats and pulsating harmonium. Built in the 13th century, where the origins of the Hindi language (with roots of Persian, Sanskrit, English ), Qawwali music-Sufi devotional music, Chisti Sufism, and the Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sufi poet and Begun Jahanara, princess are buried. Devotees carry gulab, fragrant rose petals to be placed on the tombs of Hazrat Nizamuddin and the other tombs of other beloved Sufi’s. Nizamuddin Auliya, like his predecessors, stressed love as a means of realising God. For him his love of God implied a love of humanity. His vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of religious pluralism and kindness. . . . #sufism #sufi #dailylife #photocollective #lensculture #lensculturestreets #dargah #khanqah #streetphotography #streetphotographyindia #streetphotographyinternational #streetphotographerscommunity #instagram #yourshotindia #yourshot_india #series #womenstreetphotographers #delhigram #delhidiaries #lensculturestreets #incredible_india #storyofthestreet #streetvision #colorgram

Decided to try and shoot from the hip during the Taste of Danforth celebrations this month. A lot of misses, to be honest, but it was a ton of fun to go through the pile and check out what I got. Also, the silent shutter is AMAZING on this new camera. Totally in love.

Thoughtless and unfamiliar most of the time. #Magoga is a new series of images I’m creating. In short, Magoga refears to a meal, often taken in the morning. It consists of bread, fried chiken and sauces. For many people in the streets of Luanda it is the kick start for a long day of heavy work and the stress of urban environment that seems to challenge fiction. I’m using Magoga as a metaphor that frames the complex nature and its many mechanisms. To be continued...
