Here are some tips to perfect your sumo deadlift technique from one of the best in the game, Stefi Cohen.🙌🏼 . As you approach the barbell, assume a stance outside shoulder width and check your foot position. Your toes should be slightly angled out around 45 degrees towards the plates. Next, pull yourself down to the bar until your shins stack perpendicular to the ground when viewed from the front. Then, think “chest up” so that from a side view your shoulder should be directly in line with your wrists and the barbell.✅ . A common mistake is to position the hips too low during the initial set up. To help find the ideal starting position, do a very slow eccentric deadlift lower and where the bar hits the ground is where you should set up to start your next lift.✅ . If you allow your chest to fall forward as you pull, or allow the knees to lock out too soon, you will drain the power you create from your legs and increase the demand of finishing the pull to the extensors of the back – decreasing the overall efficiency of the sumo technique.❌ . Rounded Shoulders💫 . Biomechanically speaking, rounded shoulders are a protraction and internal rotation pattern that occur. . Pec minor attaches the 3/4/5 ribs and the coracoid process of the scap- this dude helps protract your shoulder (like REACHING FOR YOUR KEY BOARD👩🏻‍💻 ) and helps with downward rotation of the scap aka: it pulls your scap forward and tips it inward. . A lot of us are familiar with the doorway stretch and while there are ways to snag pec minor with that guy, you’re really getting a lot of pec major (which probs needs it too ) but if you wanna hone in on minor, i like this. . Mycket inlägg relaterat till hockey de senaste månaderna, för att det varit just försäsong för hockey. Det är dock inte den enda kategorien idrottare jag jobbar med även om jag tycker att ingången till just hockeyn är lite lättare eftersom man har i mångt och mycket redan en kultur och förståelse för vad träning med skivstång och dylikt kan göra för prestationen. I Sverige idag har vi nästan 500 000 aktiva medlemskap i golfklubbar. Det finns en del att göra här. Den ”funktionella” träning har bitit sig fast här av flera anledningar. Problemet med stora delar av fys för golfare är att den går ut på att stärka upp golfsvingen istället för golfaren. Det går inte att att progressivt överbelasta en rotation och bygga någon nämnvärd styrka av det, så istället för att efterlikna idrottens rörelser (som alltid är teknikspecifika dvs något man övar upp snarare än tränar upp ) är det klokare att titta på den kinetiska kedjan- i golf från fötter till händer. Om du som man ökar ditt marklyft (kinetisk kedja från fötter till händer ) till i runda slängar 130-140kg, kvinnor 85-100kg har du garanterat 20m extra från tee. I en sport som går ut på att slå minst antal slag borde en extra 20m göra stor skillnad. Press your butt all the way to the wall and press your low back flat against the wall. Next, bring your arms back and press them against the wall. Are you training or just working out ??? It's not enough to just go to the gym and throw some weights around and expect to adapt. Training for athletic performance must be structured, tested and allow for day to day autoregulation. When you develope abilities to become stronger, all aspects of athleticism will increase including power production, speed, agility, and endurance. However if you do not develop a base level of strength, you will not be able to develop over qualities to their full potential. Whether you are a beginner, an amateur or professional athlete your training must be programmed so that what you do in the gym transfers over to competition day. Periodization can be done in many ways, using many different methods, protocals or progressions. The most effective is the one you can adapt from with the most transferability to game day. It takes careful planning and understanding to breakdown the specific demands of a sport and implement an effective training program. However when done properly the end results can be the difference between victory or defeat. At the end of the day when two equally skilled athletes compete, the one who is stronger, faster and a greater ability to recovery will always out preform the other. Sometimes when we workout we can slip into “autopilot mode”. It is vital we remain mentally present in our workouts. If you are mentally checking out during your workouts you’re probably doing the same ole type of workouts. Do something different, challenge your body in different ways, engage your mind, focus on your form, count your reps, keep digging deep inside yourself to hit your goals. Specificity is a thing! Not all athletes/sports/lifestyles are the same, therefore should not be trained the same. Giving bicep curls, barbell bench press and 3 mile runs as a staple in this junior freestyle skiers program would be a mistake. Yes foundational strength and movements need to be established, but there's a phase in training where you have to apply specificity for the athlete's sport/lifestyle and demands to fully optimize performance and decrease the likelihood of injury. 💥 I would not train this athlete the same as I train my junior tennis players, as I train my mom or dad, as I train my dragon in 3D.... you get the point 😆 Meet the athlete where they are... figure out the demands for what they do/want to do... apply functional strength AND specificity onto a solid foundation annnnnnnd bing bang boom.....
