MOTD: Stability Ball Hamstring Curl . You definitely don't need fancy equipment to get an effective workout for your hamstrings! This move will work the hamstrings while also using the glutes and core to stabilize 👍 . Place your heels and lower part of the calf on top of the stability ball. Engage your core (exhale zipping up through the pelvic floor and wrapping the abdominal muscles into the center, belly button in and up ). Press into the ball to lift the hips up off the floor. Driving your heels into the top of the ball, curl it in toward your butt. With control return to straight legs and keep hips lifted and as still as you can. Try 10-15 reps for 3 rounds. Day 14 of the @100glutechallenge I needed some help taking this photo hence the big smile on my face 😬 Keeping my balance with the camera on a timer was quite challenging. 🤣 I worked really hard to get my pelvis parallel with the floor during this exercise but struggled greatly due to, to my surprise, my inflexibility in the glute and hamstring of the supporting leg. Well that’s what I’m deducing due to the enormous stretch I felt when working on lowering the hip of the extended leg towards the floor.🤔 However, I am managing to get my supporting leg straighter. How to do Leg Curl, the right way!⁣ ⁣ It’s amazing how often this movement gets butchered by most gym goers. So here are some points to consider that will make it a lot more effective and safer for you. ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Create tension through your upper back, abdominals and hamstrings before moving the weight. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ A little bit of dorsi flexion (toes up ) can create more stability at the knee and help improve joint longevity as well as load lifted. ⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Don’t fling the weight up. 😐⁣ ⁣ People get zealous with this and end up throwing their hips up and doing less work. At least with their hamstrings. ⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Control the eccentric portion of the lift. ⁣ ⁣ 5️⃣ Aim to keep the form similar throughout. As fatigue kicks in you’ll want to speed up but try to standardise form for the best progression. ⁣ ⁣ Give those a go and enjoy the burn! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

I am currently working with someone who had surgery on their foot and told me we had to stay upper body until it healed. To which I say nay nay. We can train the legs without your feet. HAMSTRING HAMMER💥💥 . . I’m telling you now... if that camera wasn’t rolling, I’d have been C r Y i N g !!!!¡!!¡! This was a killer but felt SOOOOO good! While it’s technically labelled as a ‘leg exercise’ it certainly tackles the ENTIRE BODY; abs to articulate the spine slowly and precisely, as well as to hold that straight-line [shoulders to knees] bridge position at the top of the roll; glutes to squeeze the bum and hold that baby up, while keeping the pubic bone HIGHER than your hip bones (“Tuck ya bum!!!” ); ABductors (outer side of thigh ) work overtime instinctively in order to keep your knees tracking over your toes — not OUTWARDS, not INWARDS, STRAIGHT FORWARD (the same muscles needed to prevent ‘knocked-knees’ when walking or bending down! aka, squating to sit on the toilet! ); and then the HAMMIES — Holding that unstable carriage still for dear life, to only then press it away and pull it back in, all while remembering to maintain the above-said statements! ...Add in some arm movements and now you’re entering a whole other dimension of stability and control... . 👋El entrenamiento con bandas de suspensión es versátil y funcional, ya que permite trabajar movimientos que implican grandes cadenas musculares. Al disponer de menos apoyo que cuando trabajamos de forma tradicional, nuestro core debe estar activado en su totalidad para poder realizar dichos movimientos, puesto que él nos estabiliza, y por él pasan todas las fuerzas que generamos. . . 👋 En este caso si deseas trabajar movimientos de piernas que se enfoquen en la zona posterior de ésta, activando los isquiosurales puedes realizar un curl de piernas de forma alternada, la cual es una variante más dificil que al ejecutarlo de forma normal (ambas piernas de forma simultánea ) . . . Articulaciones-Músculos-Acciones. Existe una diferencia entre saber que un ejercicio o movimiento trabaja un cierto grupo muscular a entender cuál y cómo es la participación de ese grupo muscular en ese ejercicio o movimiento. Por ejemplo, por lo general cuando llegas a un gimnasio por primera vez y pides al entrenador en turno que te ponga una “rutina” para pierna, por ejemplo, te dirá qué máquinas o movimientos realizar. Aun cuando no te haya dicho para qué grupo muscular es cada uno quizá podrías irlo “descubriendo” conforme realizas la sesión al sentir el trabajo en zonas específicas de tu cuerpo. Sin embargo, el ir un poco más allá y conocer qué articulaciones están implicadas en un movimiento y cuál es la función de los grupos que en el participan te permitirá “ajustar” la máquina o ejercicio de acuerdo a tu estructura además de tener alternativas cuando este movimiento en específico no pudieras realizarlo por no disponer del equipo requerido, por ejemplo. Por ejemplo, seguramente sabrás que la máquina de curl femoral trabaja los femorales (claro, el nombre lo dice ) sin embargo quizá no sepas que el bíceps femoral es uno de los 3 músculos que componen el grupo de los isquiotibiales que se encuentran en la parte posterior de tu pierna entre la rodilla y la cadera y que poseen dos funciones: 1. Extensión de cadera 2. Flexión de rodilla Por lo tanto, además de incluir alguna forma de curl cómo el que se muestra en el video, deberíamos incluir algun movimiento de flexión y extensión de cadera estando de pie como podría ser un Peso Muerto Rumano o un Good Morning. Y, si por alguna razón no tuviéramos al acceso la máquina esta máquina bien podríamos utilizar alguna otra en la que el bíceps femoral realice la misma función como en un curl femoral sentado ó un curl femoral en pelota o incluso un curl nórdico, todos ellos nos permitirían continuar trabajando el músculo en su función específica. Day 3! #100gluteschallenge Hamstring Curl to Butt Lift From all fours, extend one leg out, flexing the heel. Try to lift knee to hip height, but if that doesn't feel good you can keep it a little lower (you will be working more leg than booty, but still getting stronger 💪 ). Keeping foot flexed, bend knee so foot comes over knee. Extend leg back out with control. With straight leg, lift heel to the sky. This was super hard for me! First, I was legit getting confused 😂 Second, My hamstrings are always super tight, they are one of the most commonly tight muscles. So be sure to stretch down after this one (& all of these actually!! ) I attempted to film this twice, because I cut my head off in both 😂 I did about 10 on one side, switched and kept repeating to get to the full 100! #bootychallenge #booty #peach #hamstringcurl #buttlift #crushit #day3

This Week's Flex Fix Friday Topic is avoiding excessive lumbar extension (lower back arching ) in the lying hamstring curl. The Common Problem: Recruiting the lumbar extensors to initiate the leg curl, instead of the hamstrings. By doing this, the exercise is less effective for targeting the hamstrings, and could potentially irritate the lower back. The Fix: Brace your lower abdominals against the pad to avoid arching the lower back. Contract the hamstrings, lifting and lowering with control. Maintain the spinal position throughout. Tip: Sometimes when this occurs, the weight is just too heavy. Hands down my favourite bit of kit at @revoke_gym right now. The #GluteHam is brutal, humbling and so damn effective 🔥 And the exercises can be adjusted for beginners to advanced. . The first movement in this vid is an advanced variation that pushes your hamstring’s to the max. Pushing your feet hard against the back supports, your quads roll up with your body ending up flat, in full extension. Engage the glutes and hamstrings to pull yourself back to the starting position. Repeat 💪 . The second exercise is a Back Extension movement, an easier variation that puts less stress on your hamstrings and targets the glutes and lower back a little bit more. I’m doing them with my knees slightly elevated but, at first, you should keep your knees fully supported as you build confidence in the movement. .
