Juggle-High Kick-Juggle Drill - Juggle using alternating feet 10 times and then kick it up with one foot and then control it again using the same foot (1 rep ), then, vice versa, continue to juggle 10 times and kick it up with the opposite foot and control it and keep going until you get 10 reps each foot which is 1 set. - A brilliant drill to improve your touch because of the cushion you need to take it out the air and keep on juggling. - Here, I demonstrate 4 reps (2 left foot, 2 right foot ) - Recommended: 5x10 reps each foot – 45s rest between sets #90minuteathlete

Do you have tight hammies? Coach Harry did. He was nowhere near being able to touch his toes until his early 20s, and had an active straight leg raise of 1 for the S&C coaches out there. Most advice you will get on this topic will be to stretch or foam roll. This may give you short term results but you will often find the next day you are back to your tight self. Instead, learn how to effectively hip hinge and perform the RDL exercise. Progressively add weight to the movement and watch your range of motivation improve. CAN YOU TOUCH YOUR TOES?? 🦶🏽 Muscle “tightness” does NOT equate to STRENGTH, or “over active” muscles!! In fact, it’s often the exact opposite. 🔁 When muscles are chronically tight, it’s usually (notice I didn’t say always ) bc their WEAK!! The “tightness” is your bodies safety mechanism and way of protecting you. The weakness causes tightness. The tightness decreases⬇️ your range of motion and restricts you from doing anything outside of those physical limits in order to minimize/prevent you from injuring yourself. Kinda crazy right?? 🤯 Hopefully, you can see how this could cause major problems if we play sports, or put demands on our body, that require these larger ranges of motion and need these muscles to be strong and working in sync with the rest of our body. 😬 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• This video is a prime example of “tight” muscles caused by WEAKNESS. Cate’s never been able to touch her toes and when she stretches her hamstrings she always feels restricted behind her knees and the distal/lower part of her hamstrings. 🦵🏽 So I did some muscle testing in different ranges and found the issue. We did a little ISO work to really get those muscles firing and waaaalaahhh!! 🔮👩🏻‍🔬😂 In less than 5 minutes, Cate can now touch her toes!! 🙌🏽🎉🍾 I really wish y’all could have seen her reaction the very first time we ever did this.... I knew exactly what was about to happen, but she had no idea she was about to touch her toes for the first time lol... It was PRICELESS!! 🤣 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ⚠️ Notice I said “first” time we did this....this is NOT a ☝🏽 and done situation!! You must continue strengthening these muscles and getting them to fire the way they are supposed to, in order for the changes to STICK! Strengthening will help restore the ROM/flexibility, which will enable the athlete/client to move and perform more optimally...all while minimizing risks of hamstring strains/pulls, groin strains/pulls, hip injuries, knee injuries, quadricep injuries, etc. 🙌🏽 🎥 @infiltrait

We all have “one of those days”. The schedules stacked from the AM to the PM. No time to breathe. Lunch time? What’s that! I get it. It’s pretty much the life of a trainer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The last thing you wanna do is even think about a workout, but you want to remain consistent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you do? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having a program to follow always trumps “winging it,” but for those days where you’re strapped for time and just wanna lift some sh*t, sweat, then leave. Keep it simple. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Problem: I had “one of those days”, 20 minutes and needed to get some solid work in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Solution: • A compound movement, building up to a RPE (rate of perceived exertion. A practical way, to keep things simple and based on “feel” ) ~7-8 • Metabolic conditioning ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For this I did: The Scenario: 20 minutes on the clock. Minimal rest between exercise. Some exercises, like front squats and the Olympic lifts, are easier to bale from and some, like bench and low bar back squat, require a spot or safety net. Take my 270 # front squat attempt. 5 UNIQUE EXERCISES FOR LOWER BODY⁣ ⁣ Did you ever want to hit your lower body in a different and unique way? Well start out with these 5!⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Jefferson Deadlifts - start standing over the bar in a staggered leg position. Grab comfortably on each side and drive upward; 50/50 on weight distribution and drive.⁣ Benefits: Unilateral strength⁣ Less force on the back ⁣ Builds strength beyond the sagittal plane⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ BB Hack Squat - place the BB behind your heels and grab on the outside of the knees. Drive up as if you were deadlifting.⁣ Benefits: More tension placed on lower body⁣ Less force on the back⁣ Promotes hip hinge mechanics⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Zercher Squat - place the BB in the folds of the elbow (you may need a pad ). Pinch scaps together and perform a squat similar to the front squat.⁣ Benefits: Builds upper back⁣ Increases quad activation⁣ Improves front squat⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ BB Single Leg Squat - with 1 leg propped up, place the other leg comfortably in front of you and the BB on the back. If you’re looking to improve mobility, one of the best ways to do so is under load. While runners don’t actually need much hip range of motion (believe it or not ), our hips typically should be a pretty mobile joint for daily activities as well as weight training. Banded storks are a great way to load hip rotation and focus on smooth and controlled mobility. Give them a shot, they’re harder than the look!

Dead bugs are an underrated core exercise, but can be a great challenge when done right. Here is a suspended Dead Bug. By hanging from the bar, it forces you to engage your glutes, core, shoulders and back. Make sure as you extend your opposite arms and legs out, there is minimal rotation in your body. Throw this in at the end of your workout to burn out whatever energy you have left 🔥💪🏻

Wellness is simple 🍎 We’re all experts in making a decision to change - “I’m sick of feeling like this, I’m going to eat better starting tomorrow” or “I can’t live like this anymore, I’m going to go to the gym before work tomorrow”. The challenge comes in DOING those healthy practices on a daily basis, for the rest of our lives. How do we make that change and stick to it? . 1️⃣ Awareness/Thinking: For us to make a change and develop into a ‘new’ person, we need to first become very familiar with who we no longer want to be. We need to be self-observant. How can we stop doing things one way without first knowing what that way looks like? Learn everything you can about the ‘you’ today. 2️⃣ Creation/Acting: Once we know all there is to know about who we are today and the thinking patterns and behaviors tied to it, we can start to define and become familiar with our new and improved self - how does that person think? What actions do they take to support it? Whenever we think and act in ways different from our auto-pilot self, our brains start building new neurological networks. We quite literally start to change our minds. 3️⃣ Being: If we continually think about who we want to be and support it in the way we think and behave, over time, we will emotionally and biologically condition ourselves to BE that person. . Start today by asking these questions and giving objective, observant answers: 🔹 How does the ‘me’ today eat? 🔹 What principles does the ‘me’ today follow around food? 🔹 How does the ‘me’ today take care of my body physically? 🔹 What principles does the ‘me’ today follow around physical activity? . Are you an overhead athlete? Then you NEED to do these stretches! Daily stretching for athletes enhances movement patterns, functional muscle health, structural integrity of the skeletomuscular system, and overall strength. This stretch is called Front to Back Stretch. This is a great stretch for the biceps, anterior and posterior deltoid, and even in the pectoralis major/minor while promoting healthy movement in the subscapularis and teres. To perform, start in a seated position with your feet out in front of you. Place both hands behind you with your hands as close together as possible while keeping your elbows straight. From here, scoot forwards as far as you can while keeping your hands in the same spot. Once you reach your stretching point, relax your neck and look up at the ceiling. Start by holding this stretch for one minute. Protein intake and sleep:⁠ ⁠ Protein ingestion prior to sleep is effectively digested and absorbed, and thereby stimulates muscle protein synthesis rates during overnight recovery.⁠ When applied during a prolonged period of resistance-type exercise training, protein supplementation prior to sleep can further augment gains in muscle mass and strength.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Recent studies investigating the impact of pre-sleep protein ingestion suggest that at least 40 g of protein is required to display a robust increase in muscle protein synthesis rates throughout overnight sleep. Furthermore, prior exercise allows more of the pre-sleep protein-derived amino acids to be utilized for de novo muscle protein synthesis during sleep.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ In short, pre-sleep protein ingestion represents an effective dietary strategy to improve overnight muscle protein synthesis, thereby improving the skeletal muscle adaptive response to exercise training.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Figure: Schematic representation of the process of muscle protein synthesis (MPS ) and muscle protein breakdown (MPB ) throughout the day. Protein ingestion stimulates MPS rates and allows for net muscle protein accretion (green areas ).
