15 miles. 9000’ of elevation gain. No ropes. Usually when @Carolinewaregeorge & @Katiebirdlambert get together, it’s for epic climbing trips, but this time they decided to trade their ropes for boots and take the hike of a lifetime on the Hardergrat trail in Switzerland. 5 days. 85 miles. 20,000’ peaks. @LynseyDyer & @DrewTabke ditched their skis to join alpine guide @AdrianBallinger on the trek of a lifetime around the beautiful mountain lakes of Huayhuash, Peru. Link in bio with full story, photos, & more. Adrian, Lynsey and Drew’s 85 mile trek through the Cordillera Huayhuash began with two days in the city of Huaraz to get acclaimed to the Andean elevation. This was an essential step, because once in the Cordillera, their first camp would be above 13,000 ft. Ordinarily groups take 10 days on the trek. The Eddie Bauer team cut the time in half, and over the course of their 5-day journey, they crossed six high passes, including the highest Cuyoc Pass at 16,44 feet above sea level. Full story linked in bio.
What happens when you put the hiking skills of professional skiers to the test? @LynseyDyer & @DrewTabke found out during a Peruvian expedition with master-guide @AdrianBallinger Link in bio for full story, photos, & more. … 20,000 foot peaks, 16,000 foot passes, stunning alpine lakes -- this is Cordillera Huayhuash in the Peruvian Andes, where one Eddie Bauer Guide and two Eddie Bauer athletes came to experience mountain in a completely different light. This team is in their element in the mountains. But in Huayhuash they also wanted to be out of their element. So, they put away their skis and the impulse to go downhill as fast as possible. And they just walked – all 85 miles of the Cordillera to experience the place on different terms.

@brooke_weeber here again with some lessons learned from my hike to Havasu Falls and some helpful tips if you decide to make the trek! Lessons learned: -We had really mild weather on our trip, but we started our hikes early anyways. There's very little shade on the hike into Havasu, so be sure to start when the sun is low to avoid heat exhaustion. And bring/drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty. -There are large water jugs available to use at the campground to fill at the spring and leave at your campsite. This was really helpful for us because our campsite was at the very end, quite far from the spring. -There was A LOT of fuel left at the campground by hikers. So if you happen to forget fuel, you can pick some up there. However, if you do bring fuel, please pack it out (along with everything else you bring ). -There are a limited number of buckets at the campground to keep your food safe from squirrels. I wouldn't rely on it, however. I noticed some people had squirrel proof bags for their food, which I would use next time. Simply hanging the food didn't end up being enough for us (or our neighbors ). -Bring a waterproof case for your phone because there's a lot of water to potentially drop your phone in down there! Please remember, there is no alcohol allowed at Havasupai. Floaties and drones are also forbidden. Please adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Havasupai tribe. If you decide to make the trek, please train and carry your belongings yourself, it's part of the adventure! And don't forget to follow all Leave No Trace Principles. Signing off - thanks for following along!
Hey all, @brooke_weeber again with another update from Havasu Falls! Our second day in the canyon revealed even more magnificent waterfalls and long hikes along the river. We walked through more lush, tropical flora, including wild vines climbing up the canyon walls. We shimmied down some frighteningly steep ladders and crossed thigh deep creek water. We navigated a maze of trails and nearly lost one iPhone to water damage. But we made it to Beaver Falls and back just before the torrential rains came. The rest of the afternoon was spent hiding out in the tent, praying the creek wouldn't flood and force evacuation. It wasn't how I imagined the trip going, but I was grateful for the time to relax and read my book (something I don't often allow myself ). The next morning we woke up to hike out only to discover the remainder of our food had been ransacked by squirrels. Knowing quite well that we couldn't make the 10 mile hike out without food (and COFFEE! ), we packed up and headed to the village of Supai in hopes that we could score some breakfast at the market, which we did. Armed with granola bars and saltine crackers, we hoisted our packs on and cruised on out of there. It's hard to leave such a beautiful place, but I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to see something so special with my own eyes.
Hi there! My name is @Brooke_Weeber and I'll be taking over the Eddie Bauer story and feed today! I recently went on a 3 day backpacking trip with my gal pal @jasmineash to one of the most beautiful places in the southwest and I wanted to share some highlights with you. After canceling our trip to Havasu Falls last year due to flooding, we were really excited to finally get on the trail and see this place with our own eyes. We spent the first night sleeping in the car in the trailhead parking lot. We woke up early the next day and got on the trail at 5am, just as the sun was just coming up and lighting the canyon walls. The scenery hiking in was absolutely stunning, featuring high cliff walls and blooming cacti. Who else loves hiking through canyons? But that was just the appetizer for the main dish, Havasu Falls! We were elated upon arrival. It was even more beautiful than it looks in pictures. After we found a home for our tent in the campground, we set out on foot once again and backtracked 2 miles to the village, making pit stops at New Navajo Falls (my favorite ) and 50 Foot Falls. The weather was mild, so we opted to soak our feet in the crystal blue water instead of going for a swim. We logged 17 miles that first day in our comfortable Eddie Bauer hiking shoes. We had not a blister or a care in the world as we went to sleep (by 8pm ) that night, resting up for more adventures to follow! -Note: This land belongs to the Havasupai Tribe, who've resided in this area for over 800 years. It is an immense privilege to be allowed on their land so we were sure to respect the land and the rules they've put in place for visitors.
A high altitude brings with it beautiful scenery and what feels like thinner air… which can lead to altitude sickness. As @mandymooremm and friends weaved through the Himalayas at high altitudes, they received a great #TrailTip from Eddie Bauer alpine guide @melissaarnot “One of the greatest lessons that @MelissaArnot bestowed on us during this trek was the fine art of pressure breathing. 💨 It makes all the difference as you climb higher. It’s essentially a big inhale and a sharp, forceful exhale, like you’re blowing out a candle across the room, to open up your lungs, allowing you to get a more efficient oxygen exchange... Besides hydration and staying nourished, breathing is THE vital key in the fight against altitude sickness. It’s also a major takeaway that I will be employing back to the real world whether I’m in the midst of a tough workout or a weird day. Mind blown.” - @mandymooremm
Congratulations to Eddie Bauer Alpine Guide @AdrianBallinger and the @alpenglowexpeditions team of guides, sherpas, and clients for reaching the summit of #MountEverest The achievement of this team of seasoned veterans is tremendous. We’re so proud of you all. -- Nepal is home to eight of the world's 14 highest mountains, including Everest. Mount Everest has always been one of the world’s great natural wonders. A sight of remarkable beauty, it has also become an aspiration of ascent for climbers across the world. We offer a heartfelt salute to the valor of all climbers during the 2019 Everest season.

@lexidupont here, signing off! I am so grateful to have met up with @kereesmith this week as I know that she shares the same sense of awe with exploratory aviation and big mountain skiing as I do. Our recon mission for bigger things in 2020 was a huge success! These last days have served as a reminder to appreciate all of those who make our pursuits possible, from the current generation of pilots to our supportive friends. You are our adopted second families. So, a big thank you! To all of those encouraging and enabling us to explore this big and beautiful world. We couldn’t do it without you. Tag and thank an important mentor or friend below. : )
@lexidupont reporting in! After a day of flying with @kereesmith and our friends from @theempire is, we had a picture perfect day climbing and skiing this 1000m peak overlooking the ocean. Skiing from summit to sea is one of those many special things about Iceland. The end of an idyllic spring day brought a feeling of tired content. Soaking in the afternoon rays with a cold beverage in hand, our boots off and our gear sprawled in the grass. #LiveYourAdventure #WhyIHike
Trail Tip: Food is the fuel that pushes you up that mountain, around the lake, or through that valley. Choose snacks that pack and travel well and are going to give you constant slow burning energy throughout the day. Fruits such as oranges and apples are better choices than bananas, which end up getting squished in your pack and thrown out 99% of the time (be honest! ) Simple, tasty and healthy. #WhyIHike #TrailTipTuesday 📷: @ckorbulic
